Tuesday 1st February 2022 and the new Moon is in Aquarius!

During the lunar cycle, the moon travels through the entire wheel of the zodiac and changes shape in the sky based on its relative position to the sun and earth.

The Moon doesn't shine, it reflects. Just like daytime here on Earth, sunlight illuminates the Moon. We just can't always see it.

When sunlight hits off the Moon's far side, it is called a new Moon. When sunlight reflects off the near side, we call it a full Moon. The rest of the month we see the phases. These eight phases are, new Moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full Moon, waning gibbous, third quarter and waning crescent. The cycle repeats once a month (every 29.5 days). The energy of the new Moon? New beginnings and fresh starts; a cosmic clean slate and the opportunity to reset, recharge, and refocus!

Year of the Water Tiger

In Chinese astrology, there is a complex cycle made up of 10 heavenly stems and 12 earthly branches.

Heavenly stems are associated with Yin Yang and the five elements of Taoism: wood; fire; earth; metal; and water. Each earthly branch is associated with one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. Every year, a heavenly stem is paired with an earthly branch. 2022 is the year of the Water Tiger!

“Yang-Water is connected to flowing water, rivers, or clouds. Tiger is in the Wood group. Tiger mainly contains Yang-Wood, which is a tall tree. It also contains Yang-Fire and Yang-Earth. Yang-Fire is related to the sun and Yin-Earth is related to the mountain. Tiger is a tall tree on the mountain under the sun. Tiger is a symbol of power, prestige, and loneliness .... The Water of 2022 helps the tree of the Tiger grow taller and stronger. That means 2022 brings strong Wood energy to people.”

The attributes of Wood energy are growth, change, and pushing through.
